Mailbox Peak Overdose Awareness Hike
August 5, 2022 @ 8:00 am - 3:00 pm PDT
Mailbox Peak Overdose Awareness Hike
8:00am – approximately 3:00pm
Discover Pass required.
Recovery Beyond will be leading a hike along the Mailbox Peak Trail Loop as a participant in the Pierce
County Overdose Awareness Campaign and in honor of all of those lost to the disease of substance use
disorder.
Anyone who participates is welcome to bring a letter to a lost loved one or a small token to leave in the
Mailbox at the peak of the hike. We will have a short ceremony at Mailbox Peak to reflect on the lives
lost during our national overdose epidemic and remember those personally significant to us on our
recovery paths.
IMPORTANT! This hike requires an above average level of physical fitness, with good cardiovascular
health and stable limbs/joints. Depending on the group pace and capabilities, the hike can take
anywhere between 5-7 hours to complete the entire loop. Appropriate hiking clothing, gear, and
water/food are necessary for participation. Hiking boots, trekking poles, and a backpack with snacks and
a water bladder are highly encouraged. Recovery Beyond will bring GPS/communication and a first aid
kit.
The final meeting point prior to heading out to the trailhead will be the Shell Gas Station parking lot in
North Bend @ Exit 34. Cell reception is often lost beyond this point, so if you do not arrive here by
8:00am, we will not be able to communicate with you. Address below:
