Hike Description:
Get acquainted with the Middle Fork Road recreation area near North Bend! This beginner friendly hike provides a lot in a short distance as it takes you to a viewpoint at the top where the Taylor River and Middle Fork River convergence is visible far below. Stegosaurus Butte rises abruptly just across the valley, and Preacher Mountain stands majestically beyond. Far in the distance, you can also see Grouse Ridge and Rattlesnake Ledge.

Difficulty: Easy/Moderate
Length: 2.2 miles round trip
Elevation Gain: 830 feet
Highest Point: 1,860 feet
Required Pass for Parking: NW Forest Pass
Special Instructions:
! There is no cell phone reception, so we will meet off Exit 34 in North Bend at the Shell Gas Station and caravan to the trailhead.
! Any communication with the Activity Lead should be done at least 60 minutes in advance of the start time.
! 8:30am Sharp — Meet in North Bend at the Shell Gas Station listed above.
! 8:45am — Depart to Trailhead (no cell phone reception thereafter until we return to North Bend)
